Becky Fisher runs a summer-camp for Christian kids in North Dakota called “Kids on fire”. At this summer-camp, the children are taught the evangelical message that the bible is to be taken literally and that it is their job to help take back America to the “true” Christian faith.
Jesus Camp succeeds in documenting how religiously indoctrinating children is a form of child abuse. It succeeds in portraying just how bat shit insane the Christian right has become in America. By documenting how kids are taught not to question the bible, how to speak in tongues, how liberalism is wrong and how we shouldn’t take care the environment because the Rapture is imminent, it succeeds very well in showing just how important it is that church and state are separate. I’ll end this review by quoting one of the children that did question God:
It’s just really hard to do this, just to believe in god is really hard, because you don’t see him you don’t, you don’t really know him much. Sometimes I don’t even believe what the bible says. It makes me a faker, it makes me feel guilty and bad cause God has always talked to me about that like I rejected him.
