Caught a bad case of the colds Tuesday, I’ve been bed-bound for days now. I only managed to drag my sorry self to work to escape another boring “home sick” day. Meanwhile, some storm pictures I uploaded to my Flickr account have gained massive popularity, despite the fact that they were all available elsewhere to begin with. Update: Damn. Should’ve stayed home.
Rasmus creates beatiful artwork. Apparently a friend of Michael’s, Rasmus illustrates fantastic dark futuristic images. I find that especially his Blade-Runner’esque Star Wars images are impressive.
I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yesterday. Absolutely adorable film. Tim Burton + Chocolate + Roald Dahl = a film that literally works for ages 7 and up.

The video for Sigur R?s’ new single, Gl?s?li is achingly pretty, as is the song. In fact, it might all be so pretty I’m not sure what to think. I’m sure. It’s great.
It appears hurricane Rita is now a category 3 hurricane, which means evacuations just like with Katrina. I’m worried; the US economy can’t take many more blows like these when Iraq is effectively purchased for years to come. At the same time I read about how global warming is directly related to stronger storms, yet Bush refuses to ratify the Kyoto Treaty. How Bush got re-elected I will never understand.
When is it legal to post music samples, and when is it ethically legal?
Take a quick gander at the frontpage. I’ve added a random photo rotator to the sidebar. The code for doing this with zenphoto is freely available.
Tristan has released his long awaited zenphoto in a 0.8 Developer Release. I’ve used the non-public 0.6 for a while now, and trust me, it’s stable enough to use and future upgrades will be easy. Expect a new photo gallery+comments soon.
Added del.icio.us links to the bottom of the sidebar. It’s easy to store bookmarks there, and these sidenotes are now different things anyway. The links are collapsed by default since I expect most people will read the XML feed. Expect cookied show/hide settings.
My good friend Martin has publicly made available his highly specialized and finetuned Photoshop pen brushes. They were built with the intention of emulating real lead pencils and drawing pencils. Martin recommends you use a paper texture as background, to achieve the full effect. I’ve seen the results, and they’re good. Also check out some of Martin’s illustrations.
Malan Darras writes profusely kind words about Noscope. That certainly deserves a link back. Thanks.
Bush: One of the worst disasters to hit the U.S. - I happen to agree.
