Fauna RC on Wordpress 2.1 & Fauna RC2 [Update 3]

This is just a quick update to settle a few issues with Fauna RC and the recently released Wordpress 2.1. Some people have been experiencing problems with this combination. While we aren’t quite sure what causes this, here are some possible solutions:

  • Copy all your customized options to notepad, then click “Delete options”, then fill in the options again.
  • Try going to Manage > Categories, edit your asides category, rename the Slug to sidenotes, save, and then rename it back to asides.
  • Update 2: Simply create a category called “Sidenotes”. This issue will be fixed in RC2, very soon. (Thanks Adam)

Please let me know if you’ve been experiencing this problem, what you did to fix it, or what else info you can supply. In the meantime, work on Fauna RC2 is slowly being started. I have a feeling this theme will be Wordpress 2.1 only, moving on to some of the newer, optimized functions and features. I’ll also be making tiny changes to accomodate custom style authors.

Update 3: You can now check out a nightly build of Fauna RC2 from Google Code in which this problem is fixed. If you’re not ready to upgrade, you can grab only the single file that has been changed: index.php.

  1. Another fix I found was to make sure you have sidenotes as a category. Previously, I did not and was experiencing issues. Once I added the category, Fauna performed as it did before the WP 2.1 release.

  2. I was wondering if you could give me an idea about what to do about this error message:

Catchable fatal error: Object of class ThemeToolkit could not be converted to string in /home/.bazooka/enike/breakfastatcharlys.com/blog/wp-content/themes/fauna_rc/themetoolkit.php on line 112

I get it when I try to save my theme options and then can’t go any further. I’m on WP 2.1 and this is a new install.

Good tip. I’ll make sure and look into that.

I’m afraid I can’t give you any pointers on that, no. However, I will file this as a bug, and look into it. You may want to try your luck in the forums .
